The White Island Classics Regatta is organised by White Island Classics S.L. with the collaboration of Marina Botafoch, Club Náutico Ibiza, RANC -Real Asociación Nacional de Cruceros & Federation Balear de Vela.

The regatta will be held in the waters of the Islas Pitiusas from the 26th-29th April 2018.

1.1 The rules will be as defined in World Sailing’s Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020.
1.2 In case of there being a discrepancy between the Notice of Race and the sailing Instructions then the Sailing Instructions will prevail.
1.3 Regulation of the International Mediterranean Committee (CIM) for measurement and the racing of vintage and classic boats.
1.4 The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea shall be heeded.
1.5 The yachts must be monohulls and equipped in accordance with the safety rules stipulated by the “Maritime Administration”.
1.6 The Regatta will be classified as type C (Coastal Race), according to the CIM Rules (Article 18).
1.7 Article 20 of CIM Rules (race declaration) will not be applied.
2.1 All boats shall in accordance with ISAF regulation 20 display advertising provided by the event organiser.
3.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance which allows participation in the regatta.
3.2 Participants of Spanish nationality, or those who are legally residents in Spain, must be in possession of the Sailing Federation License for 2018.
4.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance which allows participation in the regatta.
a. CIM CLASICOS – Yachts with a current CIM measurement certificate and built of wood or metal before December 31st, 1975.
b. CIM EPOCA – Yachts with a current CIM measurement certificate, built of wood or metal and launched before December 31st, 1949/1952.
c. SPIRIT OF TRADITION Yachts as defined by CIM regulations and S&S Swans with an IRC rating certificate.
d. BIG BOATS – wood and metal boats of traditional appearance over 23m.
4.2 Participants of Spanish nationality, or those who are legally residents in Spain, must be in possession of the Sailing Federation License for 2018.
5.1 The Event will take place always and when there is a minimum of 4 boats entered.
5.2 The following documents are requested from each boat for competing:

  • The Entry Form duly completed by the boat
  • A copy of the insurance of the boat, valid for 2018
  • Certificado CIM, IRC or RI 2018
  • Confirmation of Entry Fee payment
  • Crew list and copy of passport or ID for all the crew members, or where applicable
  • Either the appropriate sailing federation license valid for 2018 from the national authority or for those not resident in Spain an EHIC card or other proof of medical insurance
  • Contact phone number aboard and ashore, including name of contact person
5.3 The fee to enter the event is related to LOD and is:

– up to 10m €250
– 10m-12m €300
– 12m-15m €450
– 15m-18m €550
– 18m-23m €800
– 23m plus €1,500

The Entry Fee must be paid to White Island Classics SL.

Entries paid before the 28th February receive an early bird discount of 20%.

The organising committee is not responsible for any costs resulting from a yacht registering for the event.

5.4 The Entry deadline is 15th April 2017 at 20.00hrs. However, the Organising Committee reserves the right to admit entries after deadline. In this case, the entry fee will be subject to a 20% surcharge.

7.1 Coastal courses will be set for the three days of Regatta. They will be sailed in the waters of Ibiza and Formentera. They will be indicated in the Sailing Instructions.
8.1 According to the Race Committee’s opinion, safety and measurement inspections may be carried out.
8.2 An official CIM measurer will be available from Tuesday 24th April until Wednesday 25th April.
9.1 The low point Scoring System (RRS, Annex A4) will apply. Each course will have an independent score. If there are more than three races sailed, then a discard will apply.
9.2 The participants in the CIM system will be APM, the RI in SPM.
10.1 There will be a classification list for each class and/or established group.
10.2 Prizes will be awarded for:

– Overall Winner
– Spirit Of The Regatta (to be decided by the crews)
– Most Stylish Crew
– Concours D’Elegance
– Winner Class A
– Winner Class B
– Winner Class C
– Winner Class D

11.1 This Regatta complies with Category 3, of the ISAF Special Regulations for Offshore Courses and CIM rules.
11.2 All boats must be equipped with a VHF radio with channel 16 and the regatta assigned channels.
11.3 The boat’s owner or their representatives shall be responsible for ensuring that their boat complies with the legal rules and specially for its handling, navigability and safety.
12.1 The yachts will have a defined berth, assigned by the committee. These berths will be free of charge from midday on 23rd April until midday on 1st May. The owner of the yacht shall retain responsibility for said yacht.
13.1 As stated in the Royal Decree 62/2008 of the 25th of January which approves the Regulations of the Maritime Safety Conditions of navigation and of the human life out on the sea for all the nautical activities belonging to sports and memorial regattas, will be applied.
13.2 All participants are advised that they may participate, only, if their boat is correctly dispatched to navigate in the waters where the regatta is to be held, and that the boat’s skipper has the license to do so. Each boat is responsible to possess all the insurances he/she esteems necessary besides the one required in the Notice of Race.
13.3 The support boats will have mooring reserved in the Marina Botafoch during the days between April 23 and May 1, provided that they have registered in the race office presenting the following documentation:

– Third Party Liability Insurance
– Ship’s Papers
– Skipper’s Licence

14.1 All boats competing in the regatta “WHITE ISLAND CLASSICS” do so at their own risk and responsibility.
14.2 All participants competing in the race do so at their own risk and responsibility.
14.3 The Organising Committee or any person or organisation involved in the organisation of the event, reject any responsibility for loss, damage, injury or inconvenience that may occur to people or things, both on land and at sea, as a result of participating in the events covered by this Notice of Regatta.
14.4 Attention is drawn to Fundamental Rule 4 DECISION TO RACE, from Part 1 RRS that states:

“The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone”

14.5 In case of conflict Spanish law will prevail.
