Originally named ‘Hopeful’ and built for the New York stockbroker, Archibald McLaren, on the eve of the Great Depression. She served for the US Coastguard during World War II and llater sailed to the west coast of the States. There she was used for charter and played host to the likes of Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor.
In 2012 she was found in California by Charlie Wroe, Captain of the Herreshoff schooner ‘Mariette’. She was then sailed 9000 miles to the UK for an extensive restoration at Gweek Quay Boatyard in Cornwall.
